Contact Email: sjcaoneil@aol.com
The Mutual Ministry Committee’s purpose is to cultivate and maintain effective relationships between the pastor and the congregation members; act as liaison between the board, pastor, and congregation; encourage the pastor to avail him/herself of continuing education; and develop, maintain, and supervise ministry concepts.  The committee will work with the congregation to address perceptions and concerns within the congregation.  Members must maintain strict confidentiality.  Terms are 3 years and can serve 2 consecutive terms.  This term can be extended if approved by the Mutual Ministry Committee.  Committee Duties include: seeks to find ways for pastor(s), other leaders, and congregation members to work together; will address conflicts among members that may affect the congregation’s ministry, as well as, between members of the congregation and the pastor or other leaders; serve as a sounding board for the pastor to share personal problems being faced by members and help the pastor determine how best to accomplish what is being proposed; serve as a source of support for the pastor and other leaders in times of personal or professional stress; serve as a “focus group” representative of the congregation, as leaders share ideas for  ministry and seek to access how best to accomplish what is being proposed; support the pastor’s and other leaders’ need for spiritual self-care, compensation, sabbaticals, and continuing education; be alert to the early warning signs within a congregation of misunderstanding that may eventually lead to difficulty; and assist with the exit interviewer when a pastor or other leaders announce their departure from the congregation.
